Practice Philosophy and Policies

Mission Statement

h-bracesThe purpose of our practice is to provide excellent orthodontic care with outstanding results. We are committed to providing a fun, friendly environment while building honest, trusting relationships with our patients and their families. We strive to positively impact the lives of our patients by creating beautiful, confident smiles.

Practice Philosophy

Our patients’ interests come first, and our success as a practice is determined by their satisfaction with our efforts. We customize treatment to best benefit our patients and pride ourselves in the individualized treatment we provide.

Dr. Sherick demonstrates a considerate approach to orthodontics. He utilizes orthodontic approaches that are supported by good science and is constantly researching treatment advances and improvements. We will attempt, whenever possible, to avoid multiple rounds of orthodontic treatment as we feel that it is inefficient, expensive, inconvenient, and in most cases, unlikely to produce a better result.

Once appliances are placed, we strive to make treatment efficient by keeping patient expense and time spent in braces to a minimum, as well as limiting the number and duration of appointments required which directly minimizes the amount of school and work missed. In addition, Dr. Sherick sees each patient at their regular adjustment appointments, and he and his staff work diligently to keep treatment on schedule by utilizing the best available appliances designed to use light, healthy pressure to move teeth with less discomfort, fewer appointments yet shorter overall treatment times.

Dr. Sherick believes that successful orthodontic treatment requires a team approach. Our job is to use our specialized knowledge and experience to create the best possible results while minimizing the difficult aspects associated with orthodontic treatment. He and his staff provide patients and their parents with clear instructions and encouragement while welcoming any additional questions they may have.

The value of what we do is seen in the beautiful, confident smiles we create and the lives we touch while creating those smiles.

Appointments

Once your appliances have been placed, the majority of your appointments during treatment will be approximately 30 minutes in length and can be done in the afternoon hours. To maximize available appointments in these prime hours, we schedule longer appointments in the morning.

In order to help you facilitate scheduling these appointments, we ask that you have work, school, sports and any extracurricular activity schedules available when reserving you/your child’s next appointment. This will help alleviate scheduling conflicts and the need to cancel appointments. We do request a 24-hour notice if you need to cancel your appointment; however, we are aware that unforeseen events, such as illnesses and emergencies, sometimes require rescheduling an appointment.

Your scheduled appointment time has been reserved specifically for you. In order to keep on schedule, we ask that you arrive on time or slightly before your appointment time (allowing for time to brush, if needed). If you arrive more than 5 minutes late, we will try to accommodate you, but most likely you will have to reschedule.
